S.O.N.I.A.Y. Inc is a multi dimensional program that has several components. 

These components are:

Open Gym – This program operates in conjunction with the North Babylon School District.  We operate out of Peter J. Brennan Middle School/High School which is located at 550 Mount Avenue in North Babylon New York 11704.  Open Gym is for students in 6th -12th grade who are zoned for the North Babylon School District.  Open Gym is actually a community center where the children come to learn and have fun.  We open our doors at 6 PM.  Each student and the volunteers are required to wear their assigned t-shirts and present their program identification card before they sign in.  There is a yearly (September – June) registration fee of $25.  This fee covers the expenses for the t-shirts and identification cards.  From 6 PM through 7 PM the students play basketball, chess, table tennis, shoot pool, listen to music, do their home work, play chess and other board games.  From 7 PM – 8 PM we have guest speaker’s address of students in the area of community responsibility, politics, education, finance, college, cultural awareness and acceptance, prison, gangs, etc.  After the presentations, the students are allowed to resume their previous activities from 8 PM – 9PM.  We have implemented a dance program which operates from 8 PM – 9PM.  We have recently been approved to operate our program on Thursdays also.

Basketball Tournament
S.O.N.I.A.Y. Inc conducts an Annual Sonia A. France Saunders, Wendell Bodden and Allen parker Cancer Awareness Basketball Tournament.  The purpose of this event is to provide awareness and raise funds to help fight cancer and provide funding for our daily operations.  This tournament takes place every July.  The tournament is open to the public.

College Tours
S.O.N.I.A.Y. Inc conducts a yearly college tour.  We focus on Long Island Colleges, New York State Colleges and out of state colleges.  Our college tours are open to the public. 

Mentoring Program
S.O.N.I.A.Y. Inc is currently operating a mentor program entitled Panther at the Alverta B. Gray Shultz Middle School in Hempstead.  This program focuses on the mind, body and soul of the students.  We provide incentive trips, physical conditioning, discussion groups, counseling, guest speakers, school assemblies and many other programs.

Trips
S.O.N.I.A.Y. Inc conducts annual trips to West Point Military Academy (Army Football Game), Adelphi University, Knicks/Nets Basketball Games, Jordan Brand High School Basketball Classic, Witness Walk for Cancer, Universe Soul Circus, Fishing, Auto Show,
Great Blacks in Wax Museum and many others.  Our trips are open to the public.

Academic Scholarship
S.O.N.I.A.Y. Inc. sponsors a yearly scholarship to a graduating senior.

Fundraisers
We sponsor a raffle to generate money for our academic scholarship.  We are planning a yearly brunch to raise funds.
